For Jim M

What I have are three spots where freight is transfered from the narrow gauge to the standard gauge and vice versa. I would like to have these spots load/unload in 8 hours so that they can be switched twice in an operating session just to keep cars moving. In the real railroad world things tend to take a little longer. In the model railroad world, operators tend to get antsy if they aren't doing something all the time. Just my observations. It takes us about 6 hours to run a 24 hour train schedule. I am using the classic operating mode where the update is run after all the trains have been run.  Using update 359. I have been playing around with this on my practice railroad with mixed results. In order to keep my confusion to a minimum I am going to ask questions one at a time. No. 1. The one thing I have observed is that the customer loading/unloading time can be set from 0-24 hours. When I go to the waybill loading/unloading times there are two times. There is the demurrage free unloading time which is commonly 24 hours and then there is the loading time where there are a variety of minutes and 2,4 & 8 hour times listed. Do the customer loading/unloading time and the two waybill loading/unloading times have to be the same?? What I am seeing is cars being picked up after the customer loading/unloading time has expired but they won't have been loaded/unloaded and then are taken to the yard and then routed back to the same spot until the end of the session and the update is run for the next session. I have a lot of waybills and I don't want to start changing all those times if that is not the problem.

Thanks     Fred K

Fred noted:

>When I go to the waybill loading/unloading times there are two times.

When the waybill is from one on-line customer to another on-line customer, then two loading/unloading are necessary.   One at the loading point and one at the unloading point.

If the waybill involves a 'in staging" customer, then only one loading/unloading time is shown.

>There is the demurrage free unloading time which is commonly 24 hours and then there is the loading time where there are a variety of minutes and 2,4 & 8 hour times listed

Actually both dropdowns list the same times:

    - 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, 96 hours, 120 hours,

then the word "immediate", followed by "loading", or "unloading" or "loading/unloading" depending on the waybill

then

    - 2 min, 5 min, 20 min, 60 min, 90 min, 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours.

>Do the customer loading/unloading time and the two waybill loading/unloading times have to be the same??

No.

For Jim M

OK Question No. 2. The eight hour loading/unloading time at the industry spot has expired. Querying cars, the loading/unloading time for the car is 0. I run Yardmaster/route cars at yards and customers. The car shows that it is ready to be picked up and moved to the yard by the switching train but when I check the car routing at query cars, the car lading still shows the car as loaded and the routing is spot xx-yd-spot xx. I move the car to the yard and complete the train and nothing changes.  The car routing still shows the car being moved back to the spot it just came from and is still loaded. What is happening now??

Sounds like the "waybill" assigned to the car is not being changed to "zero", when the car times out.  I remember working with that just recently.

I will have another look.
