I have the latest ProTrak program on a 'thumbdrive'. While trying to load it on a Samsung laptop, which came with Windows 7 originally, then Windows 8, but now has Windows 10 on it, I received the subject error and program would not load. MSFT help was no use and I didn't see the problem mentioned in this forum. However, the answer had been addressed in Forum Post 328 about .DLL and .OCX files that did not register.
What made this a challenge, was that ProTrak would load fine on a laptop I only use for financial stuff...just wouldn't load on my 'train room' laptop. After reading post 328, we found the msstdfmt.dll was not loading, or registering. Once we took care of that, everything was fine.
My computer savvy son-in-law figures the Samsung is an old machine and with operating system and other updates, things may not get completely updated or changed. The financial machine is much newer and had no problems.
In closing, sounds like a reason for a new laptop. :>)
