 I am trying to create a new RR. The CD will not work as it states to insert original .

 I'm holding the original at this moment afraid to try again as its counting my attempts.

 what do I need to do?

John,

You must have a veeerrry old version of ProTrak.  For a long time the "New Railroad" function has not required the CD (or the USB equivalent).

I just checked the code, and the functionality and I now have 3 new railroads on my system.   Not a CD in sight!

My suggestion is that you download and install the current Update.

Even with your old version this function should work.  With the CD in the computer-drive, select the drive from the dropdown where the CD is.  The "New Railroad" function then reads data in the ES railroad folder (on the CD).   If the data matches, then the function allows creating a new railroad.

If the check fails nothing happens to the CD.

If the check fails, yes, the function counts the attempts.

But as I said above, this has been all redundant for years.

~~~~
A work-around:
a) In Windows, make a copy of any railroad-data-folder.  Even ES.  Rename the folder (using Windows) to what you want your railroad-data folder to be called.
b) In ProTrak, go to "File/Import and Find railroads".  On the new window, click the "Find" button.  (Do not "Import".)
c) In ProTrak, go to "File/Change home railroad".   Scroll down to your new folder, and double-click.
d)  You now have a new railroad.  Edit as desired.
You can see that the existence of this workaround made the "check for CD" utterly redundant, yes?
JIM,
All is well, almost.
I need to update as I never have.
I bought my ProTrak from you when you were in Tennessee if I recall.
Thanks for your help
 John
