So I would know how to do certain things in ProTrak I downloaded and printed out the new sections on The Manual. Read it! "Yes", I too refer to The Manual ! It is open on the sofa beside the main railroad computer.
I noticed the link to Appendix "L" (perhaps the most important Appendix) was pointing to Appendix "G". After a certain amount of digging I have managed to change the link. A miracle.
Just to let you know......

Hi Jim,
Following your reference to Appendix L, I too have taken to reading it in my spare time. The section on adjacent switching zones was most helpful, as I realized that I have a switcher assigned to an industry (or two) in a zone that was physically adjacent, but not in the railway schematic, in fact it was about 3 zones away.
Interesting, because it was actually working up until about a year or two ago, which is about the time you added this feature.
So, I have changed the customers so that they are all in the same zone and look forward to cars moving again.
Thanks
John

Hi Jim,
As a result of changing the customer zone, the helpful "do you want to update the waybills" came up and of course I said yes. But when I went to the listing of WBs, I found that if the changed customer was the shipper, it actually worked, but if it was the consignee, PT said it was updated, but it wasn't on the list of WBs.
I also found that the station designation was not updated either. Probably PT doesn't care much if it is Chatham(PM) or Chatham(CP), as long as the customer name and zone are correct.
Something amiss??

Hi Jim,
For several customers, I changed the city (station) name, which changed the zone code automatically, but kept the same company name.
ie For a customer, the city (or station) name was changed from Chatham(CP) to Chatham(PM), which automatically changed the zone code from CHA-14 to CHT-14. The company name remained as "CP Frt House". Remember that this is all to facilitate the use of the of the one station (CHT) PM switcher for customers in a distant zone (but adjacent physically).
Once this was customer change was complete, PT indicated that several WBs were affected, would I like to change them? I clicked "Yes" on all the WBs that were presented for review. If it was the shipper being changed by this PT routine, it all worked well. If it was the destination, it didn't, remaining as CHA-14 and Chatham(CP), so I had to go into the listing of WBs and change them one by one.
Clear??
