New ProTrak User Read Me Notes V2.0

We welcome you as a new ProTrak user and hope that your experiences with ProTrak will be enjoyable. The initialization process presented below is a CD based process and hopefully is a temporary process pending the development of a newer process not requiring the use of a CD.

It should be noted that unfortunately the developer of ProTrak, Mr. Jim Moir, passed from us in August of 2017. So, there is no means to have changes made to the ProTrak software.Use of the forums on the www.ProTrak.org web site will assist you in questions you may have.Welcome aboard.

New users are strongly encouraged to go the Users Group / Documentation – ProTrak Basics Manual (PTBM) on the ProTrak web site to access the most comprehensive documentation available on ProTrak. Either read the document on-line or download the document to your PC. The PTBM is no longer being developed or maintained and is current in most cases with ProTrak Version 303.

Installation steps:

  1. Download the files into a folder on your PC which I’ll call Folder-PT

  14. On your PC the ProTrak executable file (i.e. ProTrak.exe) should be found in the Program Files (x86) master folder, in sub-folder ProTrak, and in sub-sub-folder ProTrak. This is the folder where you will want to put the newer version of ProTrak that you acquire in Step 16 and the file mentioned in Step 15 below. You might want to create a desktop Shortcut icon to the ProTrak.exe file for ease of access.
  15. Before you attempt to download one of the update versions of ProTrak (see step 16) please do the following
    • Locate in the folder in which you downloaded the files in Step 1 or on the CD you wrote in Step 3 the file named ProTrakA.RS2.
