Hello one and all,

As you can see by the attached panoramic image of the Canada & New England, the railroad has been completely decommissioned.  For reference, the windows in the top right corner, end wall, was the location for the crew lounge.

Jim had retired about 60 days before passing. There is no doubt in my mind the C&NE would have been the rr Jim had hoped for in about 18 months time. But passing so soon after retirement has caused my wife and I to move up our retirement plans.  We have bought a 43', 20k Gross Weight, 5th wheel that we plan on taking to the road full time in about two years.  I am hopeful I will be able to meet, greet, and -ahem- "operate" with you all in the next few years.

Finally, I can tell you the satisfaction Jim got in helping others operate was exponentially more then what one could imagine.  I am hopeful the current version(s) offer some degree of satisfaction and usefulness to the world of model rr'ing.

Kind regards,

Jim Switzer

Thank you for the update, Jim.  It is sad to see that empty room.  Jim did love working on his railroad and we all really miss him and miss the really enjoyable weekends that we got to enjoy the commeraderie of our friends and railroading on the C&NE.   Just wanted to let those that asked for something from Jim's railroad to remember him, I do have them and need to get them in the mail to you all.   Best, Andy

I am sad to learn of Jim's passing. only meeting Jim once at a ProTrak weekend Jim made me feel like we have been operating for years. I hope to return to a  ProTrak weekend in the future.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the photo, Jim S.and yes it is sad to see that room empty when there was so much railroad and enjoyment there before.

Andy, I think I was on the list and anything with CNE on the side and that would fit my era of 1956 would be appreciated, but really anything of Jim M’s would be highly valued by me. And yes, send it by USPost International as that is by far the cheapest for me (never by Fedex Int’l, as there is a $40 brokerage fee when I receive it).  I'll reimburse you as its more expensive.

However, we are currently involved in a rotating postal strike that doesn’t seem likely to end soon, so don’t feel you have to rush my car to me.

Thanks

John

I just had an open house and attracted 37 keen model railroaders to my layout,  about half the registrants, who had an alternative 23 layouts to visit.  Had a great time and spent a few weeks getting the layout up to par.  I’ve also done a write-up and taken some pictures of the finished areas.

Would someone advise how to get this set up on this site??

Thanks again

John

Hi, John, good hearing from you.  Glad your open house went well.  I do have the cars for those that wanted them.  I need to get them out. Jim kept your's and I believe Pete's cars so he could mail them within the country.  Jim, if you're reading this, can you respond? Thanks, Andy
