Two weeks ago we were in Maine -  to attend a wedding and afterwards for Natalie to get her necessary refresher of the smell of rotting, coastal tidal mudflats at Wiscasett.   Afterwards we went 5 miles north to Alna and by chance found the WW&F running, spewing the delicious odour of coal smoke.   The WW&F was prep'ing for the narrow-gage convention.

Below No 9 has just returned to Alna and is having the ashes dumped.   Yes, this is an 0-4-4T.  Yes, it is 2-ft gage.  Note the Kadee #100 coupler, which just like the #5 "rides up" on the adjacent coupler under load.   Natalie called No 9 "cute", and the operators agreed.

Well worth a visit.
