Okay, I've been away from it for a few years, new computer, new operating system and I want to install and update ProTrak but my original CD will not install. I click on setup.exe and I get an hourglass for a few seconds and then – nothing. Try copying the CD to a SD drive, everything copied okay, but the same result when I try to install.

I've tried to following the forum to see if I can find a solution, but so far, I've been unsuccessful. My set up file is dated March 24, 1997. I don't remember when I bought the program, probably prior to 2009 before I moved back to Minnesota. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I never actually got into the program and got it running, but would like to do so now that I'm bored in retirement!

Harry,

Welcome back!

March 2011, so your version should install.   Which Windows are you using?

Hi Jim,
current operating system is Windows 10 home 64-bit. Last ran the program under Windows 7 64-bit home.

Hi Jim,

Although you've provided assistance to me, I'm still not successful in installing on Windows 10, I'm having problems.

Thanks

John

Jim,

Finally got the CD to read and install after several reboots of the computer. But the original CD is now loaded and running, all I need to do is catch up with the updates! Thanks!

Jim,

Now I am having trouble updating ProTrak to the latest release, build 325. My original build was 281 but I keep getting a illegal key or username message when I try to register the new build. I remember the last time I did this – years ago, I had to substitute numbers into the key but I don't remember exactly what I did or if that is still necessary. I'm not able to find any information on that here on the website. So, any insight would be most welcome!

Jim,

Reading some of the other mail in this forum I checked my ProtrakA.RS2 file and found it to be zero bytes. There is no file on my CD so I don't know just how this one came to be created but it sounds like that is the problem I am having with upgrading to the current build. But you would know better than I.

Jim,

Good news! I managed to find a ProTrakA.RS2 file on my laptop. I used this as a backup at one time and the ProTrakA.RS2 file on it was noon 34 kB, nowhere near the up-to-date ones I guess, but it worked for me and I was able to upgrade to the latest release. Now, where did I put the print out of the manual. . .
