I'm so peeved, if I had a friend who could make car card boxes like Andy has, I'd be firing up my printer!
Two or three weeks ago I thought I was getting close enough with the layout that I could start real ops, instead of the computer simulations that I have been running. I printed off all the cars by location and physically moved them to the right spots. I was pleased since I have 3 through freights in each direction and all six trains were at their maximum car lengths in staging and other staging trains were also good lengths. Industry spots were well populated and consequently, yards were reasonable.
Today. I asked a friend to come by to help me measure actual transit times so I could build/fine tune my schedule. When I went into operations to print off some switch lists, imagine my frustration when none of the trains matched what I had built previously. No trains have been run and I haven't even been into Protract since I re-arrange all the cars.
I'm running build 351 but I haven't noted any other problems.
Any one else had this problem?
Cheers

Peter,
Sorry to hear of your ProTrak troubles. Questions - by any chance did you execute your ProTrak Data Folder with another version of ProTrak other than 351 knowingly or unknowingly?
I just reviewed two sets of my notes from this past spring when I was vacillating between versions of ProTrak and didn't find much information wrt Ver. 351 other than the fact that I could not print some train work orders with 351.
It sorta sounds like after you printed off all your "cars by location" that you somehow did a "Daily Summary update". Do you recall possibly doing that? Another thing to do is to take a bunch of your cars from your original "cars by location" printouts that you used to locate the cars on your layout originally and see if the Destinations of those cars might match the Current location of the cars from your switch list printouts. Kinda far out idea maybe.

Hi Joe
How are things in sunny Florida?
I'm pretty sure that I didn't do a Daily summary update. I did notice recently, that if you sort Traffic/Freight and Passenger Cars/ on the spot column and then click "Save List" that you are warned that doing so may cause all car assignments to be lost. I don't remember doing that but I might have.
I haven't found any other way of identifying cars in trains other than this list. Edit/Show/Show all cars by location doesn't include cars in trains. And there doesn't seem to be anyway to print this information other than by using PrtSc.
Merry Christmas

Peter,
Things are good in Florida. High today mid 70-s, no snow!
Try these steps to get a car listing that includes cars in trains
Click on the following:
File
Print listing of RR data
Traffic
Freight and MOW cars
OK
Location (radio button)
Let us know if this gets you the printout that you need.
Merry Christmas

Wow, two ways to do it and I couldn't find either one. Christmas came early. Thanks Joe and Bob.
Joe's suggestion gives me the whole layout and Bob's allows me to select and print individual trains. I just printed the whole layout and I know what I'll be doing for the next few days. In the future I hope that I'll only need Bob's method.
Merry Christmas
Peter
