Hello to everyody, getting the feet wet with ProTrak, and looking to adapt it to my layout, a fictional line (KCRR) running on the Kings Canyon, starting from an undefined point of the old Santa Fe Visalia district in the mid sixties (layout image attached).

Question 1: For the sake of variety, I imagined the branch owned by ATSF with trackage right leased to SP, as other small railroads in the Valley did. What the pros and cons having three home railroads (KCRR, ATSF and SP)?

Question 2: My layout has a track fictionally representing the Visalia district (operated by ATSF) with one staging yard as the south end (Bakersfield) and one the north end (Fresno) with an interchange yard in the middle where the KCRR branch departs. On ProTrak should I name the first home railroad the ATSF or the KCRR?

Question 3: How should I set the staging tracks to offline points (Bakersfield staging has 4 tracks and Fresno 3)? I set Bakersfield, Los Angeles, Denver and Kansas City for the south and Fresno, Ogden and Sacramento for the north. Does it make sense?

Thank you in advance for any help

Several ways of doing this. Follow the manual starting from yard with the KCRR and add the towns.

Create south staging off of the yard and a north staging off of the yard.

The trains have a radio box “Operating Railroad”, insert the railroad from the list.

The yard will have a box for the yard owner and the tenant railroads.

The staging tracks sounds good and read up on the “Region”. It will affect the routing of the cars.
