Hi Jim and All,

I've been having a problem with the proper routing for some cars in some trains at the beginning of a session before any trains have been run.

In Operations, when I go to "Yardmaster, List/Print cars in yard," and then open the list for a particular yard, I then select the "Yard Check" and then "Cars in Yard" buttons at the bottom of the window.  This will open a window with all the cars listed that are presently in that yard.

Next, I select the "Destination Train" Column.  I can now go down this list to see if the cars are in the correct train by their destination.

I have found incorrectly routed cars in enough trains going to staging and some local and transfer trains, that I have to do the following before I start each session.

In Operations and the "Current Trains in Lineup" window, I do the following for all trains not originating in staging.

Click on the train to open the "Reporting Movement" window.

Then click the "Report" button.  This will open another window which allows you to open the train in the yard and an additional window will also open which will allow you to setoff and trim your train.

If you select the "Setoff and Trim" button, the misrouted cars will be removed from the train and placed in their correct train.

You can verify that the consist has been corrected by making another check of the "Yard Check" window referenced above.

My question for Jim is if there is a way to have just one master button which when selected would open and trim all trains.  With 60+ trains in my lineup, it takes a fair amount of time making all these checks and there is always the possibility of missing one or more of them.

This becomes a greater problem when we run continuous sessions in the "Session" mode as I have started doing.  I want to keep the time between the end of a session and beginning of the next to a minimum since I will have people standing around as they wait for the trains to start running again.

Thanks, Andy

Andy,

You do know why this is happening?

Do you use the "Yard Switchlist" option for a yard?

This is a good question.

Hi Jim,

No I don't know why this is happening and I'm not sure what you mean by "Yard Switchlist" option. I looked around and couldn't find it.

The reason for the question is that this problem has created a real headache for me trying to have continuous sessions using the "Session" mode option.  I'm hoping that if we run out of trains a 1/3 of the way through an all day Saturday session, we can quickly run the Daily Summary and deal with the redirected cars, and then be back into the new session in minimal times since everyone will be standing around waiting.

Thanks, Andy

ADDITIONAL:  Forgot to mention that the reason for the post was to see if there is anyway to allow the program to open all trains and trim them with one click rather than have to do each one individually.  A real pain with over 60 trains on the schedule.

Okay Jim, with the help of Bob, we found the Yard Switchlist info.  I've printed it out and am looking it over.

I went into Operations, and Yardmaster and found the list.  I've printed it out.

Looks like I have about 100 cars in all yards that need to be redirected.

Do you have any thoughts on how this should be used?

I'm thinking that I should print this report and then clear the entire list.  Then I can print the list of "cars in yard" for each yard and it will give the correct destination for every car including the redirected cars.

Question:  Once the above is done, will all the cars in the train consists be correct?  That is, will any redirected cars be removed from the train it was originally assigned to?

Will play with it and let you know if I have any other questions or thoughts.

Thanks, Andy
