Hello,

I am back to building out my ProTrak installation now that my mainline is done (I tore down my old layout 2 years ago to finish our basement...much better now).

I am having trouble getting WC-marked grain hoppers to load at an offline grain elevator (on the WC) for the only online customer I have (so far).  Other cars load at various other offline grain elevators for this customer but I cannot get this one lane to move.  No BOL's assigned despite having unfilled car orders every session.  Unfilled Car Orders report shows "no mtys" for this car order.  I have gone through appendix E multiple times and everything appears to check out...

- 6 WC cars are active, on the layout, pinging empty back and for between my main Yd and their home staging region, Selkirk NY (CR connection)

- the customer and waybill are good to go, I'm running Mondays only, car orders daily, frequency daily

- the 6 WC cars are LO's as required by waybill, capacity greater than waybill tons, car volume greater than waybill volume.  I test for "possible cars" on the waybill and only these 6 WC LO's show up (good).  I set the waybill to load only WC cars ("shipper is on railroad WC, must load").

- connections are all good, trains move from staging regions to main Yd yard and back.  Local runs Yd to customer and back.  Other offline shippers move tonnage to the one online customer.

- my Gateways should be good, my road (NECR) connects to CR at Selkirk (staging) and I set CR's first gateway connection to be WC in Chicago.  So there's a route and these WC cars always move to Selkirk empty so they seem to know where "home" is.

Any ideas?  I want to get this figured out before pumping in more data, cars, shippers, waybills, car orders, sidings, yards, etc.

JAJ,

>Any ideas?

1.  Is the waybill origin siding-number the same as the staging siding-number?

2.  Do the car reporting marks include a "&" ?

Hi Jim, thanks for the response.

Yes, the Waybill in question has a siding number equivalent to the staging siding number, in this case "SE1S5s" for Selkirk NY.  No ampersands in any reporting marks, period.

The 6 WC hoppers I have do all pass the "possible cars for this waybill" test but is it possibly an issue with the STCC I set up for CORN, SHELLED?  Which is 01 132 15.  In the "possible cars for this waybill" test window listing the cars, the STCC column is populated with the value "84" for each of these six car.  The 84th STCC in my UFC list is something about cattle, I otherwise have no idea what the 84 references.  Thoughts?

EDIT: for s*** and giggles I took 3 of the WC cars and assigned them to CORN, SHELLED service STCC 01 132 15, and voila they load the very next time.  So maybe some sort of mismatch on STCC that still allowed the cars to pass the "possible cars" test as free runners?

2nd EDIT: I think the culprit was letter "N" populated on the car "Restrictions on Use" field.  I cleared them out and now they're behaving as intended.  Jim, didn't the system populate that for me?

JAJ,

Thanks for the information.

You found the issue, the"84" assigned to the car STCC.  "84", as you know, makes no sense for an STCC. (And it is not the STCC list# either as the data in that datafield is the STCC itself.)

But the car-loading routines would find that the waybill-STCC was not the same as the car-STCC.
