If you are running "live" (loose) coal loads and you are worried around stringlining, you might think about entering some data in ProTrak.
On the "waybill edit" window, with a load that runs in an open car, an HM, HT, GB etc there is a datafield for the "weight of the liveload". This weight is in "oz." When ProTrak calculates the total train (model) weight it adds the liveload weight to the car tare (model) weight.
On the "car edit" window there is a datafield for "car model weight". On the units (engines, locomotive) edit window there is a datafield for (model) tractive effort. With units assigned to a train, ProTrak calculates the total locomotive tractive (model) effort.
On the Stations edit window there are datafields for "grade". Curvature is taken from the subdivision curvature.
From the curvature, train resistance (grade, each car-weight, each waybill liveload weight) and car length (each car, and car-to-car length) ProTrak calculates the potential for stringlining. The calculation has been calibrated and verified against actual experience.
With a little data entry, you do not need to worry about stringlining.
