I am having trouble picking up cars when instructed to do so.  When I double click on a car with the + in front of it, scheduled for pickup. I have the "car in train" window showing, the car status window that also confirms the cars location and where it is heading.  All looks correct but cannot pickup by double clicking.  Trains are set to 50 cars, wondering if there is anything else that could matter?

What you are seeing means the car has been >scheduled<, or "routed", to be picked up.  The car is >actually picked up< by the train by moving the train... by >reporting< the train.   At its next reporting-point, or a reporting point after that, depending on where the car is.

Yes it is Andy,

How you been?

I am going to post my data soon as I look things over a bit.

I can see the cars to be picked up but I don't see that happening on my switch lists

I can also see cars that are to be set off at a customer spot, but don't see the instructions on the switch list to set-off.

I think the error in car data note that I see on my switch lists for every car is caused by to large of a font. trying to find out how to manage that as well.

Jimmy,

I am having trouble understaning what the issue is:

  - could you please tell me what you mean by "can see the cars to be picked up"?  Where are you seeing that?

  - where do you "see cars to be set off at a customer"?

And what is the train cosnist (switchlist) showing?   Are there cars listed?

Thanks,

                Jim

Hi

I see 25 cars to pick up with a train in the report train location window from the train movements column

 I can see the cars on the switch list, I also see the instructions on the bottom of the switch list to pick up those cars. Total Cars 0, Pickups 25. How do I confirm that I have picked them up?

I see the cars going to the customers on the switchlist in the nxtloc column but never see the instructions to set off those cars on the switchlist

Thanks

Thanks

Jimmy,

>I see 25 cars to pick up with a train in the report train location window from the train movements column

OK.

>I can see the cars on the switch list

OK.

>I also see the instructions on the bottom of the switch list to pick up those cars. Total Cars 0, Pickups 25.

This is just a total of what is in the train.  In this case all the cars are pickups.

>I see the cars going to the customers on the switchlist in the nxtloc column

Correct.  The listing under "NxtLoc" is where the car goes "next".

>but never see the instructions to set off those cars on the switchlist

A listing under the "NxtLoc" is the instruction to setoff a car at that location.

~~~
Pickups and setoffs:
On the train-consist/switchlist, there are two lists of cars:
1) Consist on Leaving Yard This is the list of cars that are in the train (at this moment).
Cars to be setoff will have a "customer sidingnumber" listed under "NxtLoc".
2) Cars for Pickup  This is the list of cars to be picked up (at customers, interchanges and yards )
Cars to be picked up from customers and interchanges will have a "customer sidingnumber" listed under "SPOT".
Those are the instructions to setoff or pickup a car.  A listing under "NxtLoc" for a setoff, and a listing under "SPOT" for a pickup.
~~~

>How do I confirm that I have picked them up?

The cars are "picked up" or "setoff" in the computer when you report the train at its next reporting point.

You may confirm the setoff/pickup by looking at the the list of cars shown in "Report Train Loaction" window, righthand pane. If picked-up the cars will be listed. If setoff, the cars will no longer be listed.

Also, for setoffs, you may confirm a car at a customer by going to "Exceptions/Show cars at Zones", then click on the zone in the list of zone (lefthand side) and check to see if the car is listed (in the righthand pane).

~~~
There a few special cases:
a)  A train with a single reporting location:  Reporting the train at the same reporting point will pickup and setoff cars to/from that reporting location.
b)  A turn, a train that is a turn:  At the turning point, on the first "report" cars are picked up (only) and on the second report cars are setoff (if there are any for setoff at the reporting point.
c)  Pickups are done by "reporting zone".  Only cars within the next reporting zone (between this and the next reporting point) are listed on the train-consist and are picked-up/setoff.
OK?
