Hello,

Today for the first time in a virtual session, testing various waybills and car orders after resolving my issue yesterday, I encountered the above message during Daily Summary, within the Car Distributor window.  I can't find any reference to this message in the documentation although I assume it has to do with Car Service Rules (CSR).

Anyone know what it means?  Any action required?

John,

Yes, Car Service Rules.

About assigning car-orders/waybills to a car.....

After finding all suitable cars (by volume, capacity, length, ...), creating a list of those cars, ProTrak goes to a second step of optimizing the selection of the car.  That message appears, for online shipments, when the waybill origin is in staging or when the waybill destination is in staging. The optimization for a staging->online-customer is by a combination of is this the car's home-region, car-reporting marks, whether it is homeroad car, and customer-specific-reporting marks (if that matters).

The message appears if there are no suitable cars in the second step.

I suspect that, since you are just setting up your railroad, that there were no cars in the waybill-origin siding.  Just guessing.   And that when you have your cars all entered you will not see this message.  i.e. there will be cars in the origin/destination staging.

Thanks Jim.   Very helpful to understand in more detail the car service directives and rules at play beyond the simple "suitable cars" test.

You're right, I'm still just setting up, and have only entered about 25 LO's so far (to protect only grain and feed moves to my one online customer). The waybill in question....

- originates in the D&H staging track, DH1s, which is the only staging track bearing region 6

- I only have one D&H marked hopper on the whole railroad thus far

- the offline shipper itself is listed as being on CSXT and I have no CSXT marked equipment yet at all.

- Waybill is set for "CSXT preferred" not required.  I suppose I better check gateways to ensure there's a link between CSXT and DH?

So, without any CSXT equipment, and only one D&H LO, I guess I can see why this car order is not being filled.

John,

Thanks for the information.

You might think of looking at your staging options.  Have a look at "File/Program Options".   One option allows you to restrict loading cars only in their home region.  You may, or may not, wish to "uncheck" that option.
