Jim,
I am updating my Front Street control panel and want to include Z-T-S information a la Andy K.
At my Canada Dry bottling plant I have two SPOTS that are only for specific cars. One is for a gon for my broken glass (this is the SPOT that we did the CIT work on a year or so ago) and the other is a SPOT for a tank car that must be next to my CO-2 storage tanks. One of the things I want to include in my update is to have correct Z-T-S information for each siding, particularly the "T" part. I've carefully studied the PTBM App L (Q&A Appendix) question and answer set "C - Customer Setup" which addresses SPOT and the ProTrak "borrowing" function.
Questions:
1. Is "borrowing" a user option ? (I don't think it is but thought I'd ask anyway.)
2. All of my cars are 40-ft. If I name the SPOT for the CO-2 tank car FS-07c, and then specify a 50-ft track length for SPOTS FS-07a, and FS-07b will there be no borrowing, and thus can I insure that the tank car always goes to FS-07c? Similarly for the gon on an adjacent track.
3. IF the answer to 2 above is NO, do you have a suggestion of I can keep track number integrity in my SPOT code and still insure that my two specific cars are only assigned to specific SPOTs?
thanks
Joe

It is already happening. The >waybill< specifies the siding-number. The waybill specifies the car-kind. If your waybills are set up so only CO2-tank cars go to FS-07c then all is well.

>IS the key to what you wrote that I should have a tank car designated for CO2 service?
The key is the waybill. With its sidingnumber .... with a commodity of "CO2" and a carkind of whatever you choose for the tank car.
