A quick question regarding intermodal well cars. I am trying to add a 5-pack set, however when I input the length (305') and number of wells (5) the program changes the length to 44' and 2 wells. I added a single well car as a trial with no problem. Any length over about 80' seems to trigger the auto-change, as does any well number over 2. I am running update 319. Thanks for any insight into what I might be missing.

The program needs to know about the individual unit-car-length (for train dynamics). So the procedure is to enter the length of each unit ("over couplers") and then the number of wells. The program gets the entire set-car-length by multiplying the individual unit length by the number of wells.
So 61 feet by 5 wells = 305 ft total.

I forget why it was done this way in the program. I suppose it could be done the other way: total-length / number of wells.
Do you have a definite preference?

Following Paddy's comment I noticed that the "List of Freight Cars" does not list the total length of an articulated car. This has been changed.
"FCA" as articulated container/van flats, "FAA" as articulated autoracks and "HMAA" as articulated ore hoppers are recognized.
If you have another articulated carkind that should be added, plase let me know.

The practice in "real life" is to use the total length of the car, at least in the few examples I have seen. But then, the VTR isn't exactly a hotbed of modern intermodal action, anymore that is! I haven't had a chance to go back and try entering the car how you suggested, if it works I will be happy with that.

Huzzah, it worked! Using the total length divided by the number of wells, as well as the FCA car kind allowed me to enter the car. It would seem FC only applies to actual married pairs of flats, like the TTX Triple 57 sets. Good to know for the future. Thanks a bunch!
