The Update just posted is correctly dated May 3rd, but last night it was just too late for me to post and write.

The Update includes:

1)  Joe's car-float.   This Update loads and unloads cars onto/from a car-float.

2)  right-adjusted car numbers, on the train-consist and the Cut List (and maybe other lists).  Ron's suggestion.

3)  Fred's request that if the Rip track is turned off the car-quality is not downgraded (as a result of using a lesser quality waybill)

4)  the Locomotive Services "OK" button is enabled during Operations

5)  I added an explanation to the "Train optional work" window, to indicate that this is a "limiting" function

6)  If the actual time that a train starts is different from the "calltime" by 30 minutes or more, the label for "Call Time" is changed to "Start At".   The difference is added to the total delay time, which is printed on the General Manager's Daily Summary.

7)  the issue of the Cut List Preview not appearing, I think, has been addressed.

8)  the request to add a "Print" button on Operations Diagnostics for "Non-delivered cars" has been added, to the main window page.  (I discovered that a print button existed on the "Show" window.)

~~~
There are two items, from Bob, "service train for a weighscale" and the issue of cleaning tracks, to still add.
Also, I have been working on the bar-code reader and the RFID reader code.
~~~

If you remember other items please let me know.

Thanks,

                Jim

"If you remember other items please let me know."

Jim,

Thanks for the recent update and with my small concern listed first on your list. WOW !!

wrt to your above request for any forgotten items, one thing I asked about on Thursday morning was to consider making the Operation / Exception options available w/o going into Operations. I've talked with another ProTrak weekend friend and he also thinks that would be a nice thing to have. But as always "You de judge"

thanks friend

Jim, I would also find being able to use the Query windows outside of Operations helpful when I'm working with my data if it wouldn't be too difficult for you to add.

Thanks, Andy

Look out for #1 but don't step in #2!!

Joe,  Andy,

Been looking at what is involved.  For cars, most of what is in Exceptions, and specifically Query, is available from the "List of cars" (by clicking the column headers) and on the "Edit car" window.   For Query, the one thing that is not available is the option to change the "Next Destination", and directly the "Final Destination".   Is that what you are after?

As for the other "Exceptions" is it "the list of cars at zones" ?    The "list of cars in trains" ?

Thanks,

                Jim

Hi Jim and Joe,

With over 1300 cars in the inventory, I find that using the "List of cars at zones" much easier than using the Car Inventory List when I'm preparing for the next op session.  Going in and out of Operations just slows the process down but is still workable if that would create problems for you trying to get it outside of Operations.

Although all the info in the Car Query window is also in the Car Inventory List, I find the use of the Car Query more user friendly when I'm working with cars between sessions.  But again, it just slows me down getting into Operations to do it.

Best, Andy

Jim, while playing with the program tonight, I remembered something that I requested you to look at.

If possible keep the size of the window for the Train Lineup in Operations as large as possible so we can see as much of the lineup as possible without having to curser down to view the bottom half.  I do understand that the size of my Lineup is much larger than most.

The same is true for the Preview Cutlist window in Operations.  I would prefer that this list stays larger.  If I have a larger train consist, the window will show it all but when the train is only several cars, for some reason, the window is much smaller and I have to curser up and down to see them all.

Thanks, Andy

Andy,

>I remembered something that I requested you to look at.

Glad you remembered... I had forgotten/not written down those items.   Heck, I was even using those window yesterday....

I will change the window sizes as requested.

Andy, all,

>I find the use of the Car Query more user friendly when I'm working with cars between sessions.

I could duplicate the Query function as a stand-alone, for outside of Operations.

Where would you put the button to activate the new Query?

From the "list of cars", clicking on the car in the list, then up pops the Query for that car?   There also is an "Edit/Find car" option; replace that with Query?

Hi Jim, for ease of use, I would make it look and work the same way as the Query in Operation. People with very large inventories will probably appreciate something outside of using that list.

For me, I would definately prefer "Edit / Query Car." I think that should work well. Thanks, Andy

Jim,

How about adding these capabilities under Edit / Show on the main, non-operations, ProTrak screen. Seems like they fit pretty well with the many other useful Edit / Show options that are already there.

Jim,

How about a Query option under Edit
